Addition to the Mercedes-AMG family

A breath of fresh air and a new addition to the Mercedes-AMG family: the manufacturer is currently expanding and renewing its GT range with two new roadsters. Merecedes-AMG GT C
The interior of the new Mercedes-AMG GT C roadster is particularly luxurious and elegant, including nappa leather as standard.

The entry-level model is the AMG GT Roadster with an output of 350 kW/476 hp. The AMG GT C model variant is positioned between the GT S and the GT R with 410 kW/557 hp. It therefore also defines a new performance level.

Technical highlights of the GT C
In contrast to the AMG GT Roadster, the AMG GT C Roadster can be recognized by its wider rear end and large wheels. The GT C is also particularly exclusively equipped - with a nappa leather interior, the AMG Performance steering wheel and the additional RACE driving program. It also makes use of a number of technical refinements from the Mercedes-AMG GT R. These include active rear-axle steering and an electronically controlled rear-axle locking differential.

Reinforced structure
Both model variants are built as two-seater roadsters with an aluminum spaceframe and aluminum body. The bodyshell structure is reinforced by side sills with greater wall thicknesses and more chambers. Additional struts between the instrument panel and windshield frame as well as an additional strut brace between the soft top and tank increase stability. A cross member behind the seats accommodates the fixed rollover protection system.

World novelty
A new combination of materials is being used for the first time in a production vehicle: the boot lid consists of a combination of SMC (Sheet Molding Compound) with carbon fibres. The advantages are low weight, high stability and a very good surface finish.

Driving Performance
The new roadsters make the typical AMG "Driving Performance" experience even more intense. "With our two Roadster models, we are strategically expanding the AMG GT family with two fascinating variants. In addition, with the AMG GT C Roadster we are introducing a new model variant in which we have transferred many performance-relevant components from our top sports car AMG GT R," says Tobias Moers, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH.

Family addition
With the two Roadster variants, the Mercedes-AMG GT family now has six members. The two new sports cars with fabric tops also carry the typical AMG technology genes. These include, for example, the lightweight and torsionally rigid aluminum body structure and powerful and efficient V8 biturbo engines.
