Volvo: XC40 comes as a pure electric vehicle 🎥
THE SWEDEN HOLD THE WORD The XC40 Recharge is Volvo's first electric car. Like the Polestar 2, the electric XC40 has 408 hp output and 660 Newton meters. Two 150 kW electric motors drive the axles. The all-electric Volvo XC40 Recharge is on sale from 64,500 francs as an R-Design model.
The Swedish manufacturer has announced that soon all Volvo models will have an electric drive. This includes purely electric cars and hybrids.
Increase in production capacities
Natalie Robyn, Managing Director at the helm of Volvo Car Switzerland: "We are extremely well positioned for 2020 thanks to the further electrification of our models, the launch of our first all-electric model, the XC40 Recharge, and increased production capacity for electrified models."
Charge to 80 percent in 40 minutes
The Volvo XC40 P8 Recharge offers everything you'd expect from a Volvo - plus all-electric all-wheel drive.
The battery can be charged to 80 percent in 40 minutes at a 150 kW DC fast charging station. With alternating current at the wallbox, it takes 7.5 hours at 11 kW charging power.
Topography and road conditions
The battery has a capacity of 78 kWh. A fully charged battery offers, in a mixed driving style, a range of more than 400 kilometers until it has to be recharged.
The range under real conditions depends on driving style, outside temperature, weather, wind, topography and road conditions.
How much electricity is used for heating and air conditioning also affects the range.
Charge when the electricity is cheap
Electricity costs vary from place to place, but are usually lower than the cost of gasoline or diesel. If you want to save even more, set the Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric to charge when electricity prices are cheapest, which is usually at night.
Tensile load of 1.5 tons after all
The sprint to 100 km/h takes 4.9 seconds, and the top speed is 180 km/h, as with all other new models from the brand.
By comparison, a normal XC40 weighs 1.7 tons, which is half a ton lighter. Unusually for an electric car, the car can tow up to 1.5 tons.
The interior surprises with pleasant all-round visibility and ample stowage space. For example, in the doors, under the seats and in the trunk. In other words, a typical Volvo.
Purely electric or with hybrid drive
By 2025, half of the vehicles sold by Volvo will have either an all-electric drive or a hybrid drive. The next step has been taken. That's keeping one's word.
