The up! GTI from Volkswagen, which already promises a lot of driving pleasure with its sporty front end and also lets the occupants experience the first kilometers. Its price and consumption are also right.

The award is presented by a global jury of journalists. This year, the experts judged engines in twelve categories - with the 1.0 TSI winning in its displacement class below 1.0 liters. The 115-hp gasoline engine is the first engine in the up! to be combined with a four-way catalytic converter.

New magnetic injectors and high injection pressure
The development of the new TSI focused in particular on the lowest possible emissions. These were achieved through innovations within the engine, such as new 5-hole magnetic injectors, high injection pressure, the likewise newly developed turbocharger, new pistons and innovative exhaust gas aftertreatment. The engine and exhaust gas treatment system form a sustainable alliance.

The Euro 6d Temp emissions standard is based on consumption measurements taken in accordance with the realistic Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure and Real Driving Emissions test procedures.

Reduction of particulate emissions by 95 percent
The most important component of the exhaust gas aftertreatment system is a new four-way catalytic converter with integrated gasoline particulate filter - the OPF reduces particulate emissions by 95 percent. A second three-way catalytic converter in the underbody ensures that the limits are complied with even under high loads. With this exhaust gas aftertreatment and innovative measures inside the engine, the powerhouse easily meets the new Euro 6d Temp. emissions standard.
In Switzerland, the runabout is available from 19,800 Swiss francs.
