Volkswagen: Touareg with 14 mg/km on average
VW now also has clean direct-injection turbo diesels in its range. The TDIs are characterized by low nitrogen oxide emissions that fall below the Euro 6 NOx limit of 80 mg/km. One of the first models whose exhaust gas purification systems filter out nitrogen oxides at this new level is the 421-hp Touareg V8 TDI: It emits only between 10 [...]
The 421-hp Touareg V8 TDI is one of the first models whose exhaust gas purification systems filter out nitrogen oxides at this new level: it emits only between 10 and 20 mg/km.
Measurements in real road traffic
The NOx values were determined by RDE (Real Driving Emissions) measurements in real road traffic; they were carried out by the independent British test and data specialist Emissions Analytics.
One test took place in the topographically flat state of Lower Saxony, and two other tests with differences in altitude along the route took place in Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria. In Lower Saxony, the average was 10 mg/km NOx, in Bavaria 13 mg/km and in Baden-Württemberg 20 mg/km.
Multi-stage exhaust gas aftertreatment
The average NOx value for the Volkswagen in all three measurements was 14 mg/km. This result is made possible in part by a multi-stage exhaust gas aftertreatment system with a particularly large NOx accumulator.
