Volkswagen: First photos and video of the ID.5 GTX 🎥

Volkswagen provided a first glimpse of the all-electric yet camouflaged ID.5 GTX during a "Covered Drive."
Compared with the ID.4 in particular, the coupe design ensures a visually significantly lower center of gravity, even though the ID.5 GTX, with a length of 4.61 meters, is only three centimeters longer than its SUV brother - thanks to different bumpers.
Added to this are better aerodynamics, so that the electric car, which is only available with a 77 kilowatt-hour battery, will even have a WLTP range of up to 497 kilometers.
Two e-machines and all-wheel drive
In addition, the ID.5 GTX is technically the same as the ID.4 GTX and also has a dual motor with all-wheel drive, in which two electric motors - one each on the front and rear axles - are networked together without a clutch or propshaft. Together they produce a system output of 220 kW (299 hp), which should accelerate the all-electric SUV coupe to a top speed of 180 kilometers per hour.
Driving dynamics manager guarantees driving fun
The highlight of the vehicle will also be the electronic driving dynamics manager developed by Volkswagen in the ID.5 GTX, which not only controls the interaction of the two electric motors, but also links the drive system with the control systems of the brakes and chassis.
The system monitors all movements of the ID.5 GTX - whether accelerating, braking or cornering - and works closely with the ESC stability control and all-wheel drive control.
The XDS+ electronic lateral lock, which is also linked to the manager, rounds off the handling when cornering at speed: it lightly brakes the unloaded inside wheels while turning the car slightly into the curve as needed. This makes driving fun.
Towable load increases everyday suitability
The possible towing capacity of up to 1400 kilograms (at an eight percent gradient) underlines its suitability for everyday use. The new MEB performance coupe will roll off the production lines in Zwickau and be delivered to customers with a CO2-neutral footprint. If it is charged with "green electricity," it can be driven in an almost climate-neutral manner.
