Felix Egolf from Zug drove the ID.3 from the VW plant in Zwickau to Schaffhausen.
The official WLTP range for this ID.3 is 420 kilometers. On his record drive, Felix Egolf exceeded the range specification according to WLTP by 26 percent.
As a hypermiler, Felix Egolf knows all the tricks for getting as many range kilometers as possible out of an e-car.
How to drive the ID.3 particularly economically
He always drives with foresight, taking his foot off the gas whenever possible to let the car sail. But the ID.3's electronics also assisted him in his record-breaking drive.
When approaching a traffic circle, for example, Felix Egolf switched the automatic selector from D to N in order to roll toward it at idle speed. Shortly before entering the traffic circle, he switched back to D, and the ID.3 reduced its speed independently through recuperation. You have to have some practice for this.
Cool and futuristic design please
Felix Egolf takes stock: "The cockpit with the large touchscreen slightly tilted toward the driver is intuitive and functional. I also like the ID.3 because of its cool, futuristic design, the low air resistance and the 204 hp with which the electric motor on the rear axle pushes the car forward almost silently. In addition, road holding, cornering and rolling characteristics are exemplary."
At the start of sales there are six variants
Anyone interested in an ID.3: The ID.3 is initially available in Switzerland in the preconfigured "Life," "Style," "Business," "Family" and "Tech" versions. All are based on the base model ID.3 Pro Performance with the 58-kWh battery and a range of around 420 kilometers.
