Volkswagen: Bulli listens to your voice
BULLI WHOLE NEW Under the heading "Icon. State of the art", Volkswagen has presented the updated T series - the T6.1. The Bulli sees itself as an update of its predecessor, the T6 - a revision of the T5. By switching to electromechanical steering, new assistance systems are finding their way into the Bulli. In addition, ABT will supplement the engine program of the 2.0 liter TDI units with a purely electric variant with a range of 400 kilometers.
Changes outside and inside
A chrome strip with side indicators and model lettering has been added to the headlights with LED daytime running lights. Together with the generous radiator grille, it gives the T6.1 a comparatively sharp, powerful look.
Inside, the newly designed dashboard catches the eye, modeled on its premium brothers from the Volkswagen Group. The aim here is to bring new excitement to the Bulli, which it can well handle.
Crosswind assistant helps during storms
The new assistance systems include Crosswind Assist, which is standard in all T6.1 models: It automatically stabilizes the van as soon as the sideways wind turns into a storm. Also on board is the Lane Assist lane-keeping system. It registers lane markings via a camera and automatically keeps the T6.1 in its lane.
From now on, Park Assist will simplify parking and backing out. When activated, the T6.1 automatically pulls in and out; the driver only has to operate the gas pedal and brake.
Turbo diesel engines from 90 to 199 hp
The T6.1 will be offered with 2.0-liter turbodiesel engines at market launch. They all meet the Euro 6d-Temp-Evap emissions standard. The new basic engine develops 90 hp. In the power stage above that, the 2.0 TDI now develops 110 hp. The 2.0 TDI with 150 hp and a 2.0 TDI Biturbo with 199 hp are carried over from the predecessor.
Hey Volkswagen or Hey Bulli as command
The e-SIM card now makes it possible to use an emergency call assistant in the T6.1. In addition, the Bulli now obeys Daimler-like natural voice commands, which are accepted with "Hey Volkswagen" and later "Hey Bulli. Sentences like "I want to go to the Semper Opera in Dresden" are implemented by the T6.1.
At around 40,000 francs, the T6.1 is scheduled to go on sale this fall.
