Toyota: From now on also completely under power 🎥
BEYOND ZERO Hybrid pioneer Toyota launches the sporty compact SUV bZ4X, the first purely electrically powered production model. It is available with front-wheel or all-wheel drive and shows amazing off-road qualities.
The Toyota bZ4X is a practical, comfortable everyday vehicle that is also available with all-wheel drive.
After many hybrid models and a hydrogen car, Toyota is now expanding its drive range in the direction of battery-electric drives with the bZ4X compact SUV. The somewhat cryptic name of the bZ sub-brand means beyond zero.
With products and services under this banner, the Japanese want to commit to better mobility for all. The first model in the series is the bZ4X, a practical, comfortable everyday vehicle.
On the Group's new platform
The Solterra, developed jointly with Subaru, and the Lexus RZ 450e are also based on the new e-TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform of the Toyota bZ4X. In principle, the platform is suitable for front-wheel, rear-wheel and all-wheel drive.
The bZ4X starts with a length of 4.69 meters, a wheelbase of 2.85 meters - and correspondingly small overhangs - and wheels measuring up to 20 inches.
It will be available from mid-year with front-wheel or all-wheel drive and a battery capacity of 71 kWh. This will enable ranges of up to 410 kilometers (AWD) and 460 kilometers (FWD).
According to choice one or two drives
Externally striking are the wide, black wheel arch linings, which make the body look lower and the wheels even larger. The split roof spoiler, rear lip spoiler and diffuser are also typical.
The front wheels of the FWD variants are driven by a 150 kW synchronous motor (204 hp) that lets loose with a maximum torque of 265 Nm. The FWD versions deliver a maximum of 336 Nm and 160 kW (218 hp) with two engines, accelerate to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds and enable single-pedal driving in many situations.
With pleasure also excursions into the terrain
The new electric Toyota with all-wheel drive is also remarkable for its qualities when negotiating unpaved roads and steep passages. For this purpose, Toyota has developed a special 4×4 system together with partner Subaru.
Driving in particularly difficult conditions is optimized with three X-mode driving programs. The bZ4X can even handle fording depths of up to 50 centimeters safely, and Toyota states a modest 11.4 meters as the turning circle diameter.
Solar roof extends the range
In half an hour, the bZ4X battery is 80 percent charged at the public 150 kW fast charging station. Additional power is available if the solar panel roof is selected as an option. According to the manufacturer, the roof provides up to 1800 kilometers of additional range per year.
