Toyota: The Hilux is the pick-up star
INTERNATIONAL AWARD The already award-winning Toyota Hilux has been selected as the winner of the 2022/2023 International Pick-up Award by a panel of experts on the "International Van of the Year" jury.
On March 21, 1968, the first generation of the Toyota Hilux was launched in Japan and introduced to the European market a year later. Since then, the pick-up has been one of the most successful models in the Toyota range.
The new edition now received the pick-up award due to its powerful and cultivated drive, good handling and also for the already legendary characteristics of quality, reliability and durability.
All-rounder for leisure and work
Didier Gambart, vice president Toyota Motor Europe Sales, said, "With the latest Hilux, we've added a new 2.8-liter diesel to the engine lineup that's even more refined to meet the needs of customers looking for a recreational vehicle as well as a work vehicle."
Today, the Hilux is manufactured in six countries and sold in 180 countries. With more than 18 million units produced, it is the world's most successful pickup truck.
Apart from the Hilux, the award also underscores Toyota's growing market performance in the light commercial vehicle segment, where new market segments have been opened up with the Proactive City and the Proace Electric.
