Now, in the completely redeveloped eighth generation, the Hilux is taking over the legacy of its legendary predecessors. The Hilux is available as a Single Cab, a four-seater Extra Cab and a Double Cab with five seats. With its new, stronger ladder frame and reinforced body, it sets new standards when it comes to robustness. An enhanced all-wheel drive system and increased towing capacity also make it even more off-road capable and versatile. Inside, the Japanese combines the functionality of a utility vehicle with the driving culture and equipment at the level of an SUV.
Manual or automatic transmission with six gears
Toyota is offering the Hilux for the first time with a newly designed 2.4 D-4D diesel engine with optional start-stop function. The new powerplant combines significantly increased torque in the low and medium speed ranges. The new four-cylinder DOHC engine produces 150 hp. All rear-wheel-drive Hilux versions feature a 6-speed manual transmission, while the all-wheel-drive versions are also available with a 6-speed automatic for the Double Cab starting with the Sol trim level. The powerplant consumes between 6.8 and 7.8 liters (depending on the body) in conjunction with the 6-speed manual transmission and 7.2 liters per 100 kilometers in conjunction with the 6-speed automatic.
