Suzuki: The Swace - an all-in-one station wagon
A LOT OF CAR FOR YOUR MONEY The Suzuki Swace only made its official debut a few weeks ago. In the meantime, the station wagon is already on sale in Switzerland. The spacious station wagon is fun to drive and easy on the budget. Suzuki uses the technology kit of partner Toyota for the 4.65 meter long station wagon. Suzuki uses its partner Toyota's modular technology for the 4.65-meter station wagon. It goes without saying that some visual touch-ups have been made. These are particularly evident at the front. The apron and the somewhat narrower air intake are new. These modifications give the Japanese car a striking appearance.
A 1.8-liter gasoline engine plus an electric motor ensure a brisk ride. A total of 122 system hp at 115 g/km is available. That's enough for a sprint from zero to 100 km/h in 11.1 seconds and a top speed of 180 km/h.
Combination of electric motor and combustion engine
The electric motor starts the Swace quietly and takes over propulsion at low speeds. At higher speeds and under heavy acceleration, the electric motor and the combustion engine work together to charge the battery as needed. When battery capacity is low, the combustion engine charges the battery via a generator.
In addition, a regenerative braking system ensures that energy is recovered in the form of electricity when braking. This in turn is used to charge the hybrid battery. When the Swace stops, all units switch off to avoid wasting energy. All this happens as if controlled by a ghostly hand.
Communication as needed and desired
Standard in the Swace is a multimedia system with an eight-inch screen, DAB radio, Bluetooth and control buttons on the steering wheel. Smartphones are connected via Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, and an inductive charging station provides fresh juice when needed. There are also two USB ports and an AUX jack.
Trunk light and 12-volt socket
Steering wheel and seat heating (at least in the front), dual-zone automatic climate control and ambient lighting are also standard.
The trunk holds 596 liters, and even up to 1232 liters when the rear backrests are folded down. Folding the rear seats also creates a practical flat load area. Suzuki also provides a trunk light and a twelve-volt power socket. That is already classy in this class.
The base model of the Swace, the Compact+, is available from 33,990 Swiss francs net at the dealer. Those who spend 35,990 francs net for the Compact Top version will quickly find that they search in vain for a list of possible options.
