Subaru: The Solterra comes as a pure Stromer 🎥
FUTURE All-wheel drive pioneer Subaru has now also unveiled its first battery-electric car. The Solterra is a 4.69-meter-long and 1.86-meter-wide e-SUV equipped with a 150 kW e-motor.
The teaser video shows details of the Subaru Solterra, the brand's first electric vehicle.
As cooperation partners, Toyota and Subaru are working on an electric model future, among other things. Toyota presented the first model of this joint project, the bZ4X, at the end of October (AutoSprintCH reported). Now the Subaru counterpart follows.
The Solterra is the Subaru version of Toyota's electric crossover. Both models have a very similar design, apart from minor changes to the front and rear.
Range with all-wheel drive up to 460 kilometers
In the all-wheel-drive model, the axles are driven by two separate motors with 80 kW each, so that their output adds up to 160 kW. A traction battery with a capacity of 71.4 kWh is installed in the underbody of the Solterra.
Charge to 80 percent in half an hour
According to internal Subaru measurements, the ranges according to the Japanese WLTC cycle are 530 kilometers for the front-wheel drive version and 460 kilometers for the all-wheel drive version. In addition, the same charging technology as in the Toyota counterpart will be used, which allows charging at the wallbox with 11 kW and alternatively at the DC fast charger with 150 kW. The latter allows the battery to be filled to 80 percent in a good 30 minutes.
Subaru plans to launch the Solterra in Europe in the summer of 2022. The Japanese have not yet announced homologation dates and prices.
