It's just after nine o'clock, and the digital display of our SsangYong Musso pickup reads 28 degrees Celsius. While the air conditioning is running at full blast, the two-ton Korean doesn't let itself be ruffled. Musso means rhinoceros in Korean, and just like its namesake, the Musso is a big guy. With its 2.2-liter turbodiesel with 181 hp, all-wheel drive and a maximum torque of 400 Nm, it may not be a sprinter, but it is a strong workhorse. The flatbed offers up to 1011 liters of cargo capacity and room for a Euro pallet.
The basis of the platform of the new model is the Rexton
With the Musso, the fourth-largest Korean manufacturer, which after several changes of ownership now belongs to the Indian Mahindra Group, is continuing the modernization of its model range. After the two SUVs Tivoli in the compact class and the large Rexton, the Musso is now ready for customers at the dealers. SsangYong engineers chose the Rexton platform as the basis for the small truck.
Three equipment variants are available at launch
Power is transmitted to all four wheels by a 6-speed automatic. A manual 6-speed transmission is also available. The infotainment system with the 9.2-inch screen features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Internet access and a Bluetooth hands-free system are also included. The Musso is available in three equipment variants. The basic version is a real workhorse - functional and robust - and costs from 29,900 Swiss francs including 4WD.
