Ssangyong: Korando comes as a pure Stromer
THE START IS MADE With the Korando e-Motion, Ssangyong's first fully electric model is now rolling onto the market. The electrified compact SUV is equipped with a 140 kW (190 PS) electric motor.
The Korando e-Motion is exactly 4.47 meters long. This corresponds almost exactly to the length of an Opel Grandland. Its battery (supplied by LG) installed under the rear of the car has a capacity of 61.5 kWh, which enables a range of 339 kilometers according to the WLTP standard.
It takes 33 minutes to recharge the battery to 80 percent at a fast charging station. The top speed is limited to 156 km/h, and the front-wheel drive SUV sprints from 0 to 100 in 8.5 seconds.
The trailer load is 1.5 tons
This also looks extremely sporty when sprinting at traffic lights in the city, although the Korando weighs at least 1840 kilograms unladen. The four-door vehicle can weigh a maximum of 2250 kilograms.
However, the permitted trailer load also reaches astonishing heights. The front-wheel drive vehicle can take 1.5 tons on the hook. A drawbar load of 85 kilograms is permitted instead of the usual 75 kilograms, which is also important for transporting e-bikes with a bike rack on the trailer coupling. Thanks to a maximum torque of 360 Newton meters, the SUV is well equipped for towing a trailer.
Drive train in three recuperation stages
A heat pump is used to control the temperature of the interior. The drivetrain can recover kinetic energy in three recuperation stages, which can be controlled via shift paddles on the steering wheel. Four driving modes are also available: Comfort, Sport, Eco and Eco+.
In the most economical operating mode, the top speed is limited to 90 km/h, and the heating and power steering are then gradually reduced to save energy.
Voice control, charging cradle and leather
The cockpit has a 12.3-inch display showing the instruments, while the center console features an eight-inch monitor. If the navigation system is included in the higher equipment levels, it grows to 9.2 inches.
Leather is available in the top-of-the-range version, and voice control and a charging cradle are also included. The spaciousness is impeccable, and the rear seats are also comfortable.
Otherwise, the electric Ssangyong is the same as the version with a combustion engine, even the trunk capacity of 551 to 1248 liters is unchanged. One argument for the Korando e-Motion is probably the seven-year warranty or 150,000 kilometers for the electrician.
