The RS 245 wears the brand's new face in a particularly sporty way: a wider radiator grille and wide air intake openings make the front more dynamic and masculine. The restructured headlights now feature LED technology as standard, as do the fog lights, taillights and license plate lighting. Various details are kept black, such as the exterior mirror housings or the trapezoidal exhaust trims. The design includes a spoiler at the rear of the sedan and the roof edge spoiler on the station wagon.
The sporty look also dominates the largely black interior - from the headliner to the footwell with the silver-colored pedals in aluminum design. With their high bolsters and integrated headrests, the Alcantara sports seats offer secure support in fast corners. This is matched by the sport multifunction leather steering wheel with perforated leather on the steering wheel rim and integrated shift paddles (with DSG transmission). LED ambient lighting in the trim strips bathes the interior in ten individually selectable colors. A color display is integrated into the instrument cluster.
Most powerful Skoda Octavia ever
Under the hood is a 180 kW (245 hp) four-cylinder TSI gasoline engine - 11 kW (15 hp) more than the previous most powerful model variant. Maximum torque is 370 Nm. A 6-speed manual transmission or - for the first time for the Skoda Octavia - a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission are available. The sedan reaches the 100 km/h mark from a standstill in 6.6 seconds, the estate in 6.7 seconds.
The sports suspension lowers the body by 14 millimeters compared with the "normal" models in the series. The rear track is 38 millimeters wider than on the predecessor. The glossy black alloy wheels are 19 inches in size. The ESC stability program with sport mode is standard equipment, as is the electronically controlled VAQ front axle cross-axle lock. This electronic locking function for the differential of the drive wheels enables particularly dynamic acceleration out of corners.
The specifications for Switzerland (prices, availability, options) are currently not yet known.
