Skoda: Kodiaq from 2017 also in Switzerland
The Kodiak bear - namesake of the new Skoda SUV - is one of the largest predators living on land. CEO Bernhard Maier: "The Kodiaq is our pioneer in a broad-based SUV offensive." In this segment, the Kodiaq is an all-rounder for business and leisure. Its design reflects its versatile character: elegant lines, sporty contours and a robust stance. The flat, wedge-shaped headlights, which flow smoothly into the radiator grille, give the Kodiaq its four-eye face. With its dimensions, the Skoda Kodiaq is at the upper end of the compact segment. It is only four centimeters longer than the Skoda Octavia, but offers an above-average interior space. It is based on the Volkswagen Group's Modular Transverse Toolkit.
Plenty of space and pleasant comfort on all rows of seats
Numerous comfort features are available for the front seats. They can be heated, ventilated and electrically adjusted, including a memory function. The Kodiaq's rear bench seat can be folded down 60:40, moved longitudinally by 18 centimeters and its backrest angle adjusted. Two additional seats in the third row are available on request. This makes the Kodiaq the brand's first seven-seater. In the combination of TDI, DSG dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive, the Kodiaq can tow trailers weighing up to 2.5 tons.
Four engines, two 2.0 TDI as well as one 1.4 TSI and one 2.0 TSI will be available in Switzerland at the start of sales. Their displacement is either 1.4 or 2.0 liters. Outputs range from 150 hp to 190 hp. Depending on the engine, a six-speed manual or DSG transmission with six or seven gears is available.
