Škoda: Refreshment for the bestseller Karoq
MARKETED OPTICS Škoda has upgraded many details of its popular small SUV. New materials, a sophisticated design language and efficient engines should keep the Karoq, which is available in 60 countries, attractive.
Škoda has sold more than half a million units of the Karoq, which was presented in 2017 as the second SUV model. It has thus established itself alongside the Octavia and Kamiq as a mainstay of the model range.
Martin Jahn, Škoda Auto Board Member for Sales and Marketing: "Now we have specifically further developed the Karoq. The package of refreshed design, optimized aerodynamics, sustainable materials, state-of-the-art assistance systems and infotainment options will go down extremely well with our customers."
Design with crystalline elements
The new edition of the Karoq is characterized by the further developed design language with crystalline elements. Accents are set by the wider, hexagonal radiator grille, the redesigned front and rear aprons, and narrower LED lights at the front and rear.
The significantly improved aerodynamics are based on a drag coefficient cW of now 0.30, new alloy wheels with aero inserts, a longer rear spoiler, side finlets on the rear window and the underbody panel.
In the interior of the Karoq, new decors and upholstery set the ambience, also made from recycled materials if desired. The optional Eco package includes seat covers made of fabric partly woven with fibers from discarded PET bottles.
Four equipment variants to choose from
The new model is available in four equipment variants: Active, Ambition, Style and Sportline.
Five Evo engines - two diesels and three gasoline engines - with outputs ranging from 110 to 190 hp are used for propulsion. The 2.0 TSI with 190 hp is reserved for the Karoq Sportline, which comes with all-wheel drive as standard. 4×4 drive is also available with the 2.0 TDI with 150 hp.
The new Karoq also features further improved assistance and safety systems. Travel Assist combines seven assistance systems, including predictive adaptive distance assistance, adaptive lane departure warning and optimized traffic sign recognition.
Karoq prices start at CHF 31,450.
