Seat: This is how the Leon with 150 hp drives 🎥
ONE MORE THREE Since 2012, around one million vehicles of the third generation of the Leon have been sold. Shortly after the Golf 8, the Leon IV is now being launched. AutoSprintCH was on the road with the 150 hp Seat Leon FR 1.5 eTSI. The target group Seat had in mind when developing the new Leon is shown [...].
The video shows which target group Seat had in mind when developing the new Leon.
The Spaniards have further developed the already successful design language of the previous Leon in many details. From the front, the new model resembles the Tarraco, while the continuous light strip at the rear is striking.
The visual touches include the beading in the hood and the front bumper of the FR equipment. In general, the Leon has the same sporty look as before.
Significantly more space in all seats
The wheelbase grows by five centimeters to 2.69 meters. The length of the fourth generation reaches 4.36 meters or 8.6 centimeters more than the previous Leon, while the luggage compartment volume of the five-door model remains unchanged at 380 liters.
The plus is especially noticeable in the rear, where the space is very good. Even long legs can be comfortably accommodated. The front seats also feel spacious due to the greatly reduced cockpit.
Other electronic aids on offer
The development of the new Leon focused above all on safety. In addition to the already familiar electronic stability control with antilock braking system and traction control, this also includes a number of other electronic aids that not only focus on the safety of the occupants but also on the vehicle's surroundings. Dangerous situations are thus prevented from arising in the first place. You can see how these assistants work in the illustrations below.
There are hardly any keys and buttons
The standard digital instruments plus a 10-inch touchscreen in the test car combine virtually all operating functions. There are hardly any real buttons and knobs left. Instead, there is a touchpad for the lights to the left of the driver, and touch-sensitive control strips for the climate control and DSG.
Plus for seats and pleasant colors
The cockpit of the 2020 Leon looks tidy. Everything that doesn't belong in the foreground is hidden in digital drawers. Only the hazard warning switch and parking brake still have their own buttons on the console.
To the left of the steering wheel is a switch panel for the light and vision theme, and on the steering wheel itself is the usual battery of switches. That's it. There doesn't need to be anything more.
With a straight 6 for the tightly upholstered seats, the pleasant colors inside and the quality workmanship, the new Leon also scored highly here,
Short-term boost function and sailing
And the new Seat Leon delivers on the sporty promise announced by its looks. The turbocharged gasoline engine with 48-volt technology (which is what the small e in the model designation stands for) gets down to business quickly, but always remains acoustically discreet.
The mild hybrid technology with belt starter generator and a small lithium-ion battery enables not only a short-term boost function but also sailing with the combustion engine completely switched off. In addition, cylinder deactivation is also on board.
As an eTSI mild hybrid, the Seat Leon is very pleasant to drive in every situation. The spaciousness is also impressive across the board, as is the fuel consumption of a good six liters. Keep it up. And now we're looking forward to the station wagon.
