Available from 31,800 Swiss francs and available to order now, the Arkana is powered either by the TCe 140 EDC turbocharged gasoline engine with micro-hybrid technology or by the E-TECH 145 full hybrid. The TCe 160 EDC, which is also combined with micro-hybrid technology, will go on sale at a later date.
Flat trunk floor with a length of 1.87 meters
At 4.57 meters in length, the Renault Arcana, which is manufactured in Busan, South Korea, is positioned between the sister models Kadjar and Koleos. The wheelbase of 2.72 meters exceeds that of the Koleos by 1.5 centimeters, but the Arkana is ten centimeters lower at 1.57 meters high.
Knee and foot room in the rear are among the best in the segment at 21.1 and 30.5 centimeters respectively. The trunk volume is 513 liters (E-TECH 145 480 liters). When the rear seat bench is folded down, a completely flat load area with a length of 1.87 meters is created in combination with the flexible trunk floor.
Full hybrid version saves up to 40 percent fuel
When it comes to the powertrain, Renault is relying entirely on hybridization. In the Arkana TCe 140 EDC and in the Arkana TCe 160 EDC, which will be available from fall 2021, a starter generator and a 12-volt lithium-ion battery located underneath the front passenger seat support the 1.3-liter four-cylinder turbo gasoline engine during starting and acceleration and ensure more efficient recuperation during deceleration.
The full hybrid version E-TECH 145 enables up to 40 percent lower fuel consumption than a gasoline-only model with comparable performance.
Top score of five stars in Euro NCAP crash test
The Renault Arkana also proves exemplary with the top score of 5 stars in the Euro NCAP crash test: The sporty SUV coupé received top ratings for adult protection, child and pedestrian safety, and driver assistance systems. The basis for the high safety level of the Arkana is the new CMF-B platform.
