Renault: R 5 Turbo 3E sprints with electricity 🎥
POWER-RACER While the R 5 Prototype stands out visually from the original, Renault is presenting a show car for the 50th anniversary of the model series that is unmistakably based on the original.
The all-electric R 5 Turbo 3E is reminiscent of the potent small car with the extremely wide rear fenders. The two-seater with carbon fiber bodywork relies on rear-wheel drive, just like the cheek turbo of yesteryear, and is another 25 centimeters wider.
One electric motor drives each rear wheel. Together they produce 280 kW (280 hp) and deliver 700 Newton meters of torque.
There is a donut mode ex works
Equipped with a motorsport-style roll bar, the vehicle features a drift mode and a donut mode and accelerates to 100 mph in 3.5 seconds, with a top speed of 200 mph.
The 42 kWh battery supplies enough energy for several laps of the racetrack. At the same time, a steering angle of over 50 degrees enables lightning-fast changes of direction. The original analog displays are replaced by digital screens as well.
Following its digital premiere, the four-meter show car with the mighty rear wing was presented at the Chantilly Arts & Elégance Richard Mille classic car show in France. From October 17 to 23, 2022, the R 5 Turbo 3E will be on display at the Paris Motor Show.
