The Car Design Review, published by Car Design News magazine for the eighth time, took into account concept cars presented between March 2020 and March 2021. It thus provides an overview of the year's design trends and innovations. The jury is made up of automotive experts and design directors from leading car manufacturers.
Renault 5 Prototype shows the future
Gilles Vidal, head of design at Renault, says: "The Car Design News Concept Car of the Year award for the R5 Prototype (pictures in the gallery) has a special appeal for the Renault design team, as it is awarded by a jury of leading car designers. We are very proud of this."
The Renault 5 Prototype is a compact city car that will be one of the important novelties of the brand's all-electric future. The production vehicle is scheduled to be unveiled in 2024.
Vision of electromobility after 2025
In addition, the Renault Morphoz received the Creativ'Award at the international automobile festival. This award was given for the most innovative concept. The jury was made up of experts from the fields of motorsport, architecture, fashion, design, culture and media. Laurens van den Acker, head of design at the Renault Group, accepted the trophy at the Grand Prix ceremony.
The Morphoz is a futuristic vehicle that showcases Renault's vision for electric mobility beyond 2025. It uses the alliance's CMF-EV modular electric platform to offer different configurations.
