For the tenth anniversary of the R4 fan festival "4L International", the French manufacturer presented an all-electric two-seater reissue of the open-air model built from 1968 to 1971.

Instead of radiator grille a plastic trim
The Renault 4 e-Plein Air is a joint project of Renault Classic, Renault Design and the company Melun Rétro, a specialist in parts for classic vehicles of the brand. Instead of the radiator grille, a plastic panel with the contours of the historic front mask adorns the unique piece. Above the battery, the designers stylishly placed a picnic basket. The shortened original platform of the Renault 4 serves as the basis for the classic show car.

Canopy made of simple, single-layer cloth
The Renault 4 Plein Air, like several other similar vehicle concepts, is a product of the flower power era. Nevertheless, only 563 units were built. A fixed roof was dispensed with, as were windows and doors. The only protection against falling out was a plastic-covered chain, and instead of individual seats there was a continuous bench seat. A soft top made of simple, single-layer fabric protected the car as well as possible from wind and weather. The Renault 4 Plein Air became internationally known, among other things, through its use as a shuttle vehicle at the 1968 World's Fair in Montreal.
