Renault: The Espace heir 🎥

CARS FOR LIFE Almost 60 years after the launch of the Renault 16 and 40 years after the then revolutionary Espace, the new Renault Symbioz joins the legacy of the "Voitures à vivre" as a compact family car.

The Renault Symbioz is aimed at a broad target group. First and foremost to families looking for spaciousness, modularity and efficiency. But also to corporate fleets looking for electrification and manageable total cost of ownership. With a length of 4.41 meters, the Symbioz is positioned between the Captur and Austral, strengthening the brand's presence in the C-segment.

The Renault Symbioz is reminiscent of the family-friendly concepts of the R16 and the Espace.

Variable interior

With a trunk capacity of up to 624 liters and a sliding bench seat that can be folded down to form a flat floor, the new model is on a par with the best in its class. Its interior shares the structure of the dashboard with the Captur. From the Techno version upwards, the Symbioz is equipped with the OpenR Link multimedia system with integrated Google Universe, which is based on Android Automotive 12. The central 10.4-inch vertical touchscreen allows drivers and passengers to take full advantage of a connected world of content and services.

E-Tech motorization

The E-Tech Full Hybrid 145, with which the Symbioz is equipped, is economical in terms of fuel consumption and offers the comfort and quietness of electric driving in the city without having to recharge it. The full hybrid E-Tech technology offers both dynamism and efficiency. The series-parallel hybrid drive combines two electric motors with a 1.6-liter petrol engine with 94 hp, an intelligent multimode transmission with clutchless clutches and a 1.2 kWh battery. The E-Tech Full Hybrid 145 offers up to 14 operating combinations between the combustion engine and electric motor, with the focus on electric driving.

Low consumption

The Symbioz always starts in electric mode, allowing the driver to drive electrically up to 80 percent of the time in the city. On the highway, the drivetrain is designed so that the combustion engine drives the wheels directly without the electric motors running alongside, as is the case with conventional hybrid systems. With this technology, the Symbioz, which is available in three trim levels, optimizes fuel consumption on any terrain and achieves 4.6 l/100 km in the WLTP cycle.
