Range Rover: No end for the diesel yet

TRADITION The politically desired shift to electromobility has gripped all the major automakers - including Jaguar Land Rover. With the I-Pace and the upcoming all-electric XJ, the Brits are doing everything they can to adapt. Diesel
The Range Rover Sport is a modern SUV. Sportily drawn and for almost all cases to use.

And the British have now taken the Range Rover to a new level - with the diesel engines of the Ingenium series. These are now also available with six cylinders and arranged in series, as is recommended in the interest of running culture.

Depending on the model series, the new engine replaces the previous V6 diesel, the most powerful four-cylinder diesel. But also the V8 diesel, which Land Rover sacrificed at virtually the same time as Audi's V8 TDI.

Mild hybridization and 350 hp output
The Range Rover Sport (photos in the gallery) is more compact and also less expensive than the big Range Rover. The model designation, for example D350 MHEV, indicates the engine power and the mild hybridization. The six-cylinder produces an impressive 350 hp and 700 Nm of torque.

The resulting performance meets even the highest demands. The Range Rover Sport sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds, while the heavier Range Rover, which stands more upright in the wind, needs 7.1 seconds. Both models top out at 225 km/h.

Silky-smooth inline six-cylinder diesel
The new engines run silky smooth and drive the SUVs with vigor. The new straight six-cylinder diesel is also available with less power, namely 300 hp, and in the Range Rover Sport also in an entry-level variant with 250 hp, which replaces the former four-cylinder turbodiesel.

Strong performance even in extreme terrain
The Range Rover Sport is a modern SUV, sporty in design and predestined for almost all applications. The classic Range Rover, with its upright design and slightly longer body, can do everything even better: it excels even in extreme terrain, while at the same time distinguishing itself with plenty of luxury in the interior. Especially in the SVAutobiography equipment variant.

Prices start at 88 100 francs for the Range Rover Sport D250 MHEV, the petrol P300 is available from 84 300 francs, the Range Rover D300 MHEV is available from 120 700 francs, the petrol P400 MHEV from 130 100 francs.
