Porsche: Topless of the special kind 🎥

FRESH AIR It takes just twelve seconds to see the whole sky from the Porsche 911 Cabriolet. The Cabriolet is offered with rear-wheel drive (Carrera S) or all-wheel drive (Carrera 4S). The video demonstrates how the roof of the convertible disappears in slices into the rear.

The amazing technology first. The roof folds back, including the heated rear window, leaving a shapely back that gives the convertible a touch of speedster. The electric wind deflector takes just two more seconds to get into position.

Mixture of steel and aluminum
Compared with the coupe, the changes to the beefy, wide body and the large wheels with mixed tires are limited to the roof and to things that invisibly provide more rigidity and better rollover protection. The body builders were able to compensate for the extra weight and heavier equipment with lightweight construction measures. The body-in-white is now only 30 percent steel, the rest aluminum.

Driving performance like the 911 coupe
The newly designed, faster-acting eight-speed dual-clutch transmission allows a wider spread, so that the top speed of 306 km/h is reached in sixth gear.
The convertible has the same engine as the coupe. The revised six-cylinder engine in a boxer arrangement in the rear with a displacement of just under three liters produces 450 hp and 530 Nm of maximum torque.
All in all: Like the coupe (AutoSprintCH reported), the convertible drives smoothly and very pleasantly. And: The roof of the Porsche Cabrio is so well insulated that you hardly notice the difference to the coupe. It could hardly be more perfect.

The ignition lock is on the left as usual
Particularly in the sports car segment, it is rare to find an interior that is so meticulously designed in detail, both visually and haptically. Much has remained the same. The ignition lock, for example, is located on the left as before and the large central tachometer in the middle cannot be overlooked.
The controls for the roof and wind deflector are located in the glossy piano lacquer center console at the end, so that the twelve seconds are not extended by a long search. The convertible also has two emergency seats.
The Cabriolet is sold with rear-wheel drive (Carrera S, from 175,600 Swiss francs) and all-wheel drive (Carrera 4S, from 186,000 Swiss francs).
