In addition to even better drivability and faster lap times, the focus during development was also on the sustainable use of raw materials. The new 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport is the first series-produced racing car to feature body parts made of a biofiber composite material.
The driver and passenger doors as well as the rear wing are made of a natural fiber mix consisting primarily of agricultural residues such as flax or hemp fibers, which has similar properties to carbon fiber in terms of weight and stiffness.
425 hp lightweight
The 718 GT4 Clubsport is powered by a 3.8-liter six-cylinder boxer engine with 425 hp. Compared with its predecessor, this means a power increase of 40 hp.
Power is transmitted to the rear wheels by a Porsche dual-clutch transmission with six gears and a mechanical rear axle differential lock. The lightweight strut front suspension comes from its big brother, the 911 GT3 Cup.
The generously dimensioned racing brake system is equipped with steel brake discs measuring 380 millimeters in diameter at the front and rear. The total weight, including the safety cage welded in as standard, is only 1320 kilograms.
Two variants
For the first time, the near-production mid-engine sports car is available ex works in two variants: as a "Trackday" model without road approval (price 134,000 euros plus taxes) for ambitious amateur racers and as a "Competition" for racing in the many national and international GT4 series (price 157,000 euros).
Both variants are available to order now and will be delivered to teams and drivers around the world from February. Nationally, the new 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport will undoubtedly be seen in action at the six foreign circuit races for the Porsche Cup Suisse, and possibly also at one or two slaloms in Switzerland.
