Porsche honors Jo Siffert
UNITED LEGENDS The special request program of Porsche's Exclusive Manufaktur special department in Zuffenhausen creates a one-off based on the 911 GT3 RS for the Swiss market as a tribute to racing legend Jo Siffert.
Jo Siffert is one of the greats in Swiss racing history. In addition to 96 starts and two victories in Formula 1, the French-speaking Swiss, who was also active as a Porsche dealer, competed in numerous sports car and endurance races - regularly in Porsche racing cars from 1964 onwards. Two class victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans and an overall victory in the 1968 24 Hours of Sebring are part of Siffert's palmarès. From 1969 to 1971, the endurance specialist made a significant contribution to the victories in the World Sports Car Championship.
Tribute to Jo Siffert
Seppi's career literally took him from rag picker to the top of the world, but came to an abrupt end on October 24, 1971. Siffert had a fatal accident in a Formula 1 race at Brands Hatch. But he was not forgotten.
The 911 GT3 RS Tribute to Jo Siffert, built as part of the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur special request program, is based on the racing cars of the past - both in terms of the interior and exterior. Apart from a limited edition of model cars, the vehicle remains a one-off.
A matter of luck
Interested parties can visit a Swiss Porsche Center to find out more and express their interest in purchasing the vehicle. Porsche Schweiz AG will draw lots at random on November 9 at "Auto Zürich" to determine who will be awarded the one-off car.
