The 911 Cabriolet has a broader, more confident and altogether more muscular appearance than its predecessor.
Even as a convertible, the new model remains unmistakably a Porsche 911. The fully automatic soft top has a fixed glass rear window. Integrated into the structure of the soft top are flat magnesium elements known as surface bows, which prevent the roof from inflating at high speeds.
The soft top can be opened or closed at speeds of up to 50 km/h. The new roof hydraulics shorten the opening time by around twelve seconds. The new roof hydraulics reduce the opening time to around twelve seconds, and an electrically extendable wind deflector takes the edge off the storm in the neck.
Also available with all-wheel drive on request
The 911 Cabriolet will be launched as a Carrera S with rear-wheel drive and as a Carrera 4S with all-wheel drive. Both are equipped with the 2981 cc turbocharged 6-cylinder boxer engine with 450 hp. An improved injection process and other optimizations increase efficiency and reduce emissions in the powertrain. Power transmission is handled by a newly developed 8-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Suspension Management Sport Suspension
The new position of the engine mounts makes the Cabriolet more torsionally stiff than its predecessor. The Porsche Active Suspension Management sports suspension is available for the 911 Cabriolet for the first time. In this case, the springs are harder and shorter, the anti-roll bars on the front and rear axles are stiffer, and the chassis as a whole is lowered by ten millimeters. This gives the 911 a more neutral and balanced ride on the road.
Prices start from 175 600 francs
As on the original 911, the instrument panel runs across the entire width between two horizontal wing planes. Next to the centrally positioned tachometer, two thin, frameless free-form displays inform the driver.
The 911 Carrera S Cabriolet costs from 175,600 francs , the 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet from 186,00 francs including tuning for next summer.
