The limited edition takes up design features from the study that heralded the success story of the two-seater in 1993.
The Boxster has a special significance for Porsche: The model series heralded a reorientation of model policy and showed the sports car manufacturer the way out of a difficult economic situation in the mid-1990s.
This was reflected in the first water-cooled six-cylinder production boxer as well as in the intelligent equal-parts concept that debuted with the agile mid-engine roadster. It found its way into the 996-generation 911, which debuted a year later, and brought Porsche a return to profitable production.
Memory of the legendary 550 Spyder
The attractively priced two-seater won the hearts of new, younger customers right from the start. The look of the Detroit study Boxster was reminiscent of the legendary 550 Spyder and the 718 RS 60 Spyder racing sports car.
It was so well received in January 1993 that Porsche's Executive Board influenced the ongoing design development of the production model and ordered: "Please build the study in exactly the same way" - a wise decision, as time would show.
The basis is a four-liter six-cylinder boxer engine
Limited to 1250 units worldwide (250 for China and 1000 for the rest of the world), the edition is based on the 400 hp (294 kW) GTS 4.0 model with a four-liter six-cylinder boxer engine and revs to a maximum of 7,000 rpm. It takes up numerous design features of the study that heralded the success story of the open-top two-seater at the 1993 Detroit Motor Show.
Leather interior and red soft top
Porsche offers the Boxster 25th Anniversary in GT silver metallic, jet black metallic (left) and Carrara white metallic (right). In keeping with the historic original, the special model combines a burgundy leather interior (center) with a red soft top. The soft top bears the embossed Boxster 25 lettering. Alternatively, both are also available in black.
Six-speed transmission or dual clutch transmission
The six-cylinder boxer engine in the anniversary model is coupled to either a manual six-speed transmission or a seven-speed Porsche dual-clutch transmission. The Porsche Active Suspension Management sports suspension, including lowering by ten millimeters, and Porsche Torque Vectoring with mechanical rear-axle cross-locking are fitted as standard.
In Switzerland, prices for the Boxster 25 Years start at 120,500 Swiss francs with country-specific equipment. Swiss customers benefit from a warranty extension (2 + 2) and the contents of the Porsche Swiss Package.
