German car designer Thomas Ingenlath, head of Polestar since 2017, presents the Model 2.
In the public vote conducted in all parts of the country by Schweizer Illustrierte and AutoScout24, the Skoda Octavia Combi, the best-selling car in Switzerland, won the award for "The Favorite Car of the Swiss".
Evaluation according to different criteria
The jury of Swiss automotive journalists, racing drivers and EMPA and TCS engineers independently evaluated the nominated vehicles according to various criteria.
Points were awarded for design, driving pleasure, drive, handling, quality, comfort, functionality, safety, environmental friendliness, infotainment and value for money.
Many details of the Chinese-built Polestar 2 clearly reveal Volvo's genes.
Contemporary and sustainable mobility
Sascha Heiniger, Head of Polestar Switzerland: "The award is a great success for our young brand. At the same time, we also see it as confirmation and an obligation to continue on our uncompromising path for contemporary and sustainable mobility."
408 hp and 470 kilometer range
Volvo's electric offshoot, named after the North Star, launches its second model, the Polestar 2. The technology of the Polestar 2 is the same as that of the Volvo XC40 Pure Electric.
With two times 150 kW, i.e. 408 hp, it offers plenty of power and a decent range of 470 kilometers. There is much about the Polestar that is reminiscent of Volvo. These include the Volvo steering wheel and the design of the air vents. And the car is also easy to operate.
The Polestar 2 in motion. The five-seater's acceleration is particularly impressive.
One-pedal driving is really fun
For example, the car has no start button. To drive away, you move the automatic lever to D and off you go. The Polestar 2 doesn't have many buttons. Most of the settings are made on the display. The strength of the recuperation can also be set here. Polestar relies entirely on one-pedal driving.
Driving with only one pedal works very well indeed. You can't even begin to experience the power of the electric drive in heavy traffic. On the highway, I give power. The Polestar 2 apparently doesn't have any difficulties reaching the top speed of 205 km/h.
Five-seater is in pole position
The Swede made in China impressed on a test drive by AutoSprintCH above all with its tremendous acceleration. Here, too, the five-seater is in pole position. Word should already have spread that electric cars can offer a lot of driving fun. The Polestar goes one better.
