The front of the 308 is strikingly highlighted by a large radiator grille with the new two-dimensional lion logo in the center. Design borrowings from the 208 and 508 are unmistakable.
As with the compact car and the mid-size sedan, the daytime running lights on the 308 are claw-shaped, and the narrow LED headlights are also available with matrix light, depending on the equipment line.
There are more beads and edges on the sides than on the predecessor. At the rear, the three-part light units also feature the claw motif.
Aluminum applications and ambient lighting
As before, the interior is dominated by the so-called i-Cockpit, but looks far more futuristic than before. It now has a freely configurable digital display (not in the basic version), and a 3D version is also available as an option. A 10-inch touchpad can be used to operate the audio, navigation and air conditioning systems, among other things.
Depending on the comfort level, leather seats, aluminum applications and ambient lighting are available. A modern infotainment system, which can also be operated by voice via a digital assistant (OK Peugeot), has also found its way into the 308.
Plug-in hybrids, diesel and gasoline engines in the range
Diesel and gasoline engines as well as plug-in hybrids are available at market launch. The only diesel in the range is a 1.5-liter with 130 hp. The gasoline range includes the familiar 1.2-liter three-cylinder, which is offered with 110 hp or 130 hp.
The diesel as well as the 130-horsepower top can be combined with an eight-speed automatic as an alternative to the manual six-speed transmission.
The plug-in hybrids are also familiar from the PSA shelf. The 180e has a system output of 180 hp, the 225e 225 hp. The electric range is 60 and 59 kilometers respectively.
Functions for level 2 of automated driving
In addition to the standard assistance systems, the Drive Assist 2.0 package will also be available at the end of 2021. This advanced technology package uses cameras, radar and laser radar to enable level 2 automated driving functions - in other words, the driver can take his hands off the steering wheel for a moment.
