Peugeot: The Fastback 408 at a glance 🎥

PREMIERE With the new 408, Peugeot is bringing a new fastback silhouette to the midsize segment. The model is the first of its kind, both in the history of the brand and in the current automotive market.

The Peugeot 408 is characterized first and foremost by its dynamic-looking fastback silhouette. The lines are sharply drawn, and the radiator grille is in the same color as the body. In addition, the 408 features the new Peugeot crest logo with lion's head.

Typical is the light signature at the front
The 20-inch wheels and the characteristic light signature at the front are also striking, as are the LED lights with three claws at the rear. The rear part of the roof is an aerodynamically sensitive area. The airflow is directed by two cat ears that form an air corridor to the tailgate spoiler.

With a length of 4.69 meters, based on a wheelbase of 2.79 meters, the new 408 has a spacious second row of seats with 188 millimeters of knee room.
The trunk is also generously sized with a volume of 536 liters and can be increased to 1611 liters with the rear seat backs folded down.

Good road holding and high ride comfort
The driving pleasure factor is important for the new model, says Peugeit. Good road holding, high ride comfort, great driving pleasure and intuitive handling in the city should attest to this. The modest turning circle diameter of 11.18 meters also ensures good maneuverability, and the tires range from 17 to 20 inches.

Engines from 130 to 180 hp in the program
The two plug-in versions Hybrid 180 e-EAT8 and Hybrid 225 e-EAT8 with front-wheel drive are available. Here, 150 or 180 hp are supplied by a gasoline engine and 81 kW each by the electric motor. Both versions are combined with the e-EAT8 8-speed automatic transmission. The battery of both PHEVs has a capacity of 12.4 kWh. Also on offer is a variant with a 1.2-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine with 130 hp.

Production starts in Europe, later in China
The new Peugeot will be launched at the beginning of 2023. It will initially be produced in Mulhouse, France, for the European market and somewhat later also at the Chengdu plant in China for the local market. Prices are not known at present.
