Peugeot: 508 PSE Hybrid for the anniversary

TRADITION Peugeot's history goes back to 1810. At that time, the brothers Jean-Pierre and Fréderic produced steel bands and springs, which were used to make saw blades or support frames for the hoop skirts that were fashionable at the time. PSE
PSE stands for Peugeot Sport Engineered, the brand's in-house motorsport division.

A lion was emblazoned on the products at that time. The symbol had been registered as a trademark in 1858. Armand Peugeot, son of Jean-Pierre, began producing bicycles, followed in 1889 by the first automobile, which was still steam-powered at the time.

Successes in international motorsport
On public roads, Peugeot vehicles were mostly represented in lower classes, and the dream of an upper-class sedan remained unfulfilled.

On the racetrack, on the other hand, the French were successful. Whether it was the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Indianapolis 500 Miles, the Paris-Dakar Rally or the Pikes Peak hill climb, Peugeot was always way out in front, often finishing a race as the winner.

Four-cylinder and two electric motors
Enough reasons, then, to also celebrate the 210th birthday with the presentation of a special vehicle, namely the Peugeot 508 PSE.

The model is a plug-in hybrid whose powertrain is used in similar form in the 3008 Hybrid and the Opel Grandland X Hybrid4. In the 508, the powertrain consisting of a 1.6 four-cylinder and two electric motors is even more powerful. Instead of the 300 hp in the Opel, it comes to 360 hp in the 508 PSE.

Driving performance like a sports car
The engine trio comprises a 200 hp turbocharged gasoline engine from the Puretech family, an 81 kW (110 hp) electric motor at the front and an 83 kW (113 hp) electric at the rear.

The combustion engine has a peak torque of 300 Nm as a soloist, the front electric motor 320 Nm. The rear wheels hit the road with 166 Nm, which ensures a fast start.

The sprint from zero to 100 km/h takes just 5.2 seconds. Up to 140 km/h is possible in purely electric mode, and the top speed is limited to 250 km/h.

PSE
Adaptive cruise control with stop & go function and lane departure warning are standard.

Fast charge in one hour and 45 minutes
The battery has a capacity of 11.5 kWh, one charge is enough for 42 to 50 kilometers. Then it must be recharged at a household connection or one hour and 45 minutes at a pillar.

A 3.7 kW charging electronics system is fitted as standard, with a 7.4 kW system offered as an option. Adaptive cruise control with stop & go function, lane departure warning and predictive emergency braking are standard. Among other things, the Night Vision system is available as an option for the 508 PSE Hybrid.

Prices for the 508 PSE Hybrid are available on request.
