Opel: Rebirth of the GSe 🎥
LITTLE E SHOWS THE CHANGE Opel's sporty future is to be electric. Astra and Astra Sports Tourer come with plug-in hybrid drive - and is called GSe. However, e now stands for electric, not injection.
Opel recently announced that GSe will stand for the new generation of electrified models in the future. Now the first pictures of the GSe models are here. Astra GSe and Astra Sports Tourer GSe offer a good balance between ride comfort and performance-oriented handling.
With a system output of 165 kW (225 hp) and a maximum torque of 360 Nm, the Astra GS models set standards in their class. They are designed to be even more agile and precise than the variants launched to date. Steering, suspension and brakes respond more spontaneously and directly.
Better stability and directional stability in curves
The body, which has been lowered by 10 millimeters, also contributes to the performance-oriented driving characteristics. Compared with competitors, the vehicles offer better stability and directional stability in curves, according to the manufacturer.
The steering is sport-tuned to GSe specifications. The special springs and Koni oil-pressure shock absorbers of the front and rear suspension enable not only dynamic but also comfortable driving. The electronic stability program intervenes later so that GSe drivers can be even more dynamic on the road.
Grand Sport electric for sporty models
The 18-inch alloy wheels inspired by the all-electric Manta GSe and the GSe-specific front end hint at what's inside the new Astra GSe, and inside, the driver and front passenger can get comfortable on ergonomic, AGR-certified performance seats in Alcantara trim.
Whereas the abbreviation GSe used to stand for Grand Sport injection, as in the case of the Opel Commodore GS/E and the Opel Monza GSE, it now stands for Opel's new sporty model version and means Grand Sport electric. The Opel GSe models are intended to combine sporty driving fun with the possibility of locally emission-free driving.
