Success: Opel put an exclamation mark 17 years ago with the introduction of the seven-passenger seating system in the Zafira. 2.7 million vehicles have been purchased since then, primarily by families and professionals.

It adopts key features of the award-winning Opel Astra. The front of the Zafira is characterized by a sporty grille and the new brand-typical double-swing LED daytime running lights. Opel offers the new Zafira with latest-generation infotainment systems, including seven-inch color touchscreen. In addition, the OnStart personal online and service assistant is also on board. The interior offers the greatest possible variability and, with the five-seater configuration, ample storage space from 710 to 1860 liters. In total, there are more than 30 storage options in the Zafira. A bicycle rack can also be integrated into the rear as an option, accommodating up to four bicycles (maximum 80 kilograms).

Equipment: In the interior, the redesigned and uncluttered instrument panel and the three-dimensional steering wheel as well as the huge panoramic windshield in the Opel Zafira are particularly eye-catching.

Environmentally friendly natural gas drive for the 2017 model year
As in the Astra, Opel offers its advanced technologies, such as the adaptive safety light system AFL with LED technology or the high-beam assistant and traffic sign recognition, also in the Zafira. This also includes the adaptive mechatronic FlexRide chassis, which continuously adapts to the personal driving style and the situation. The compact van from Rüsselsheim is offered with three types of drive. Gasoline, diesel and natural gas units with 120 to 200 hp are used. The top engine is the 1.6 liter Ecotec turbo gasoline engine with a torque peak of 280 Nm and a top speed of 220 km/h as well as remarkable acceleration (0 to 100 km/h in 8.8 seconds). Prices for Switzerland were not yet known at the time of going to press.

The Zafira heralds another product offensive from Opel. The new Mokka will follow just a few weeks later, and in early 2017 the compact electric car Ampera-e with a range of 320 kilometers suitable for everyday use and a top speed of 145 km/h will be launched at a price of less than 35,000 Swiss francs. Next year will also see the arrival of the successor to the Insignia as a sedan and Sports Tourer, including an OPC version with around 400 hp and an 8-speed torque converter automatic.
