More than 13.6 million small cars have rolled off the production line since its debut in 1982. The Corsa has made millions of people mobile - now it offers them an entry into emission-free driving.
Orders for the sixth Corsa generation will start in a few weeks, starting with the Corsa-e, shortly followed by the variants with gasoline and diesel engines. Swiss prices have not yet been set.
50 km/h in under three seconds
The Corsa delivers 260 Newton meters of torque and sprints from zero to 100 km/h in 8.1 seconds. It reaches 50 km/h in under three seconds. The 50 kWh batteries can be recharged to 80 percent within 30 minutes via fast charging.
The driver can choose between three driving modes: Normal, Eco and Sport. The Sport mode changes the responsiveness and increases the driving dynamics, but of course also reduces the range. It is highest in the Eco driving mode.
Predecessor was 108 kilograms heavier
The lightest variant of the next generation even undercuts the magic 1,000 kilogram mark: the five-door model will weigh just 980 kilograms without a driver. Compared with its predecessor, this model is 108 kilograms lighter, a saving of around ten percent - and that with comparable length dimensions of 4.06 meters.
Fully digital cockpit and fine leather seats
The sixth-generation Corsa is 4.06 meters long and just under five centimeters flatter than the current model. The driver will sit 28 millimeters lower in the future. Driving behavior benefits from the low center of gravity. A fully digital cockpit and fine leather seats are available as options.
Available for the first time in the compact car segment is the adaptive and glare-free Intellilux LED matrix light. The total of eight LED elements are controlled by a high-resolution front camera and automatically and continuously adjust the light beam to the respective traffic situation and environment.
Radar based speed control
The traffic sign assistant recognizes more information, such as dynamic LED indicators, thanks to a new high-tech camera. The speed limits stored in the navigation system shown in the display. Also making their debut are radar-based adaptive cruise control and sensor-controlled edge protection.
Added to this are systems such as the blind spot warning system and various parking aids. The infotainment offering includes the Multimedia Navi with seven-inch and the Multimedia Navi Pro with ten-inch color touchscreen including telematics service.
