Opel: New Combo perfect for families
SPACE IS NOT A PROBLEM In contrast to classic family vans, high-roof station wagons are recording constantly rising registration figures. Opel is now taking the opposite approach with the new Combo Life. The compact van has been part of the Opel model range since 1986 (back then as the Kadett Combo). The compact van has been part of the Opel model range since 1986 (back then as the Kadett Combo). Now the fifth generation is arriving, offering all the comfort features of a passenger car in addition to the usual generous space in this class. Models like the Combo are one thing above all: practical vans for family use. Available as a short version (4.40 meters) and as an XL version (4.75 meters), the almost-everything-rounder mutates into a kind of Swiss Army knife on wheels that is up to all transport tasks and offers maximum safety.
Choice of assistance systems for every need
Even the basic version comes with assistance systems such as Forward Collision Alert with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection, Lane Keeping Assist, Hill Start Assist, cruise control and speed limiter as well as drowsiness and traffic sign recognition. A total of 19 assistance systems are available, putting the Combo at the top of its segment. These include the innovative sideguard protection system, which uses twelve sensors to warn of side obstacles when maneuvering (active at less than ten km/h).
An indicator at the rear warns of overloading
At the IAA Commercial Vehicles in Hanover on September 19, Opel will present the commercial vehicle version of the Combo, which offers a cargo volume of 3.9 to 4.4 cubic meters. The van is the only one of its kind that can load two Euro pallets on the correspondingly designed loading area. The Cargo can transport a total of one ton. An indicator at the rear of the vehicle helps to prevent overloading.
A few days after its world premiere, the new Opel Combo will be available at Swiss dealerships from the beginning of October. Prices start at 21,650 francs.
