Opel's first plug-in hybrid combines power from a 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and two electric motors, providing a system output of up to 300 hp. Fuel consumption is 2.2 liters per 100 kilometers, according to the factory. The Grandland X Hybrid4 drives up to 50 kilometers purely on electric power. Prices and equipment for Switzerland have not yet been determined.
Electrified eight-speed automatic transmission
The drive system includes a 200-hp 1.6-liter turbo gasoline direct injection engine that meets the Euro 6d Temp standard. The four-cylinder engine was designed to meet the requirements of a hybrid vehicle.
The front electric motor transmits its power to the front wheels via an electrified eight-speed automatic transmission. The second electric motor and the differential are integrated into the rear axle. This second electric drive makes the Grandland X Hybrid4 an all-wheel drive vehicle.
More than 85,000 charging points in Europe
The connection for charging the battery via the 3.3 kW on-board charger (optionally with 6.6 kW) sits on the opposite side of the vehicle to the normal gas cap. The battery is installed under the rear seats to save space.
The charging time depends on the type of charger used. For more convenient charging, "Free2Move Services," the mobility brand of Groupe PSA, offers special solutions for electric vehicles. The offer includes a charging pass that gives access to more than 85,000 charging points in Europe.
Battery Corsa to be launched this year
In addition to the Ampera-e, which remains in the lineup in various markets, the manufacturer will launch the next-generation Corsa, the Zafira Life, the Vivaro commercial vehicle all-rounder and the successor to the Mokka X worldwide within 20 months - each model also as a purely battery-electric version. The new Corsa can be ordered before the end of the year.
