Opel: Grandland purely electric on request
NEW DEVELOPMENT The new Opel Grandland - designed, developed and built in Germany - is based on the Stellantis Group's medium platform and is intended to offer a range of up to 700 kilometers as a purely electric vehicle.
The new Opel Grandland brings many design ideas from the Opel Experimental study to series production. These include the new 3D-Vizor with illuminated Opel flash at the front and the fully illuminated Opel lettering at the rear. Other highlights include the Intelli-Lux lighting system, the STLA medium platform and the new flat 98-kWh battery pack, which should allow ranges of up to 700 kilometers. The Grandland then only needs around 26 minutes to charge the battery to 80 percent at the quick-charging station.
Got bigger
The new edition is 173 millimetres longer, 64 millimetres wider and 19 millimetres higher than its predecessor, measuring 4.65 meters in length, 1.90 meters in width and 1.66 meters in height. The 2.78 meter long wheelbase and the steeply sloping tailgate increase the amount of space in the passenger and luggage compartments. The rear bench seat can be split 40:20:40 to create a load volume of up to 1641 liters. Together with the up to 20-inch alloy wheels, it therefore visually marks the top of the Opel SUV range. But the illuminated Opel flash is not the only lighting innovation. The Intelli-Lux pixel matrix HD light is also celebrating its premiere. The system has 51,200 elements and enables high-resolution light distribution.
The driver and passengers are greeted by a clear and homely interior design. The 16-inch central display, which is angled slightly towards the driver, and the high center console exude sportiness. Behind the steering wheel, a fully digital display together with the head-up display provides the most important information.
Different drives
For customers who do not want to drive fully electrically, Opel's drive range offers alternative solutions. The Grandland Plug-in Hybrid offers a WLTP range of up to 85 kilometers, and the Grandland Hybrid with 48-volt technology is another option in the range that promises driving comfort with reduced fuel consumption.
The suspension with Frequency Selective Damping technology is a guarantee of driving comfort. It enables different damping characteristics depending on the situation, road conditions and driving style.
