The new model is the most efficient Astra ever, with up to 21 percent lower CO2 emissions than its predecessor. Five of the total of seven drive combinations offered undercut the 100 gram mark for CO2 emissions. With a completely new generation of engines and the likewise newly developed transmissions, the Opel Astra sets standards in terms of low emissions.

Pure driving pleasure with automatic transmission
The Astra's three-cylinder engines (gasoline and diesel from 105 hp to 145 hp) not only provide agile performance, but also guarantee a comfortable ride with minimal noise. Among other things, a counter-rotating balancer shaft in the engine block reduces potential vibrations.

Even the basic engine versions now have six-speed manual transmissions as standard. A new continuously variable automatic transmission and a smooth-shifting, low-friction nine-speed automatic also contribute to lower fuel consumption and high comfort.

During a few taster kilometers in the Bernese Oberland, the automatic transmissions in particular showed their pleasant side. Easy strolling or even brisk sprints were handled to complete satisfaction. If you want to shift gears, be my guest, but you'll have to do without a piece of automotive culture day after day. That's something to think about.

Dynamic suspension with taut dampers
The chassis of the Astra has been further developed with a fine hand: New shock absorbers enhance ride comfort. With the optional dynamic suspension, firmer dampers, more direct steering, and a driving-friendly Watts Link rear axle come on board.

Technologies such as gasoline particulate filters and SCR catalytic converters on diesels (which means Selective Catalytic Reduction) help minimize emissions. All new all-aluminum engines feature the fuel-saving start-stop function as standard.

Prices start at 23 850 francs
Opel engineers have also further digitalized the vehicle with a new optional high-tech front camera and a rear-view camera. The new front camera is smaller and even more powerful than before thanks to a faster processor. It now also detects pedestrians.

For the first time, drivers in the new Opel Astra look at a digital speedometer with all important displays.

Secure networking at all times
Astra customers are ideally connected with the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatible Multimedia Radio, Multimedia Navi and Multimedia Navi Pro systems. The top-of-the-line Multimedia Navi Pro features an eight-inch color touchscreen. It can be customized and optionally operated by voice control.

The navigation view itself has a more modern look with redesigned icons. Astra drivers and passengers will always be on the safe side with the E-Call emergency call system.

Sound like in a concert hall
In the future, compatible smartphones can also be easily charged inductively via wireless charging in the compact class model.

The new Astra is transformed into a concert hall with the optional Bose high-end sound system with seven speakers including a RichBass subwoofer. Last but not least, the heated windshield in the new Astra is another comfort feature that makes driving in the cold season more pleasant.

The five-door model is available from 23,850 Swiss francs, the Sports Tourer from 24,850 francs. A flex premium of 2250 francs can currently still be deducted from these list prices.
