The new Nissan Juke draws on some familiar features of its predecessor.

You loved it - or you hated it! The first generation of the Juke polarized more than almost any other crossover. Nevertheless, it has delighted around one million buyers since its debut in 2019.

Its successor reverts to these identifying features, but in a much less radical way. Because at least its front has certain unique selling points, the Juke 2.0 still stands out from the mainstream in the crossover B segment.

More wheelbase and legroom
In terms of dimensions, the Nissan crossover clearly towers over its predecessor. At 4.21 meters, its length increases by an impressive 7.5 centimeters. This puts the Japanese model on a par with competitors such as the Skoda Kamiq, Volkswagen T-Roc and Opel Crossland X.

The Juke has also grown in terms of wheelbase, legroom (+5.8 centimeters) and trunk space (from 354 to 422 liters). And despite growth on many levels, the new Juke is 23 kilos lighter than the old model.

Juke
From the end of November, the Juke will be available at Swiss dealerships at a base price starting at 21,490 francs.

All-wheel drive not in the program
The crossover is powered exclusively by a new 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 117 hp and a maximum torque of 200 Nm. There is also a manual six-speed or seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and three driving modes (Normal, Eco, Sport).

Of course, no sporty vehicle is based on such engine data. At least in Sport mode, the Juke 2.0 is a lot of fun. It feels more agile than expected and rolls confidently and calmly over the asphalt on its up to 19-inch rims. Incidentally, all-wheel drive is not available for the Juke.

Hybrid version as the next step
Although the Japanese are not revealing any details, it can be assumed that further drive systems for the Juke will follow soon. There will hardly be a Nismo version with 200 hp, not even the 110 hp diesel. A hybrid version, as used in the sister model Renault Captur, is more likely. The battery capacity should be sufficient for a purely electric range of up to 45 kilometers.

App for various vehicle functions
Inside, there are new soft-touch materials and sports seats as standard, with optional Alcantara or leather upholstery. The new Nissan Connect infotainment system includes an 8.0-inch touchscreen and supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Various vehicle functions can be controlled remotely via an app. For example, you can check the tire pressure and engine oil level and check whether all the doors are actually locked.

Speakers also in the headrests
A lot has been done in the area of safety. New features include adaptive cruise control, emergency brake assist, which also recognizes pedestrians and cyclists, and traffic sign recognition. Mobile devices can be integrated via Apple Carplay/Android Auto and the navigation system now works with traffic data from the Internet. The range is rounded off by a Bose sound system with loudspeakers in the headrests.

Prices start at 21,490 francs
Four equipment versions (Visia, Acenta, N-Connecta, Tekna and N-Design) are available. The entry-level Visia model costs from CHF 21,490, while the top-of-the-range N-Design model with metallic paint costs CHF 30,940. Anyone who decides to purchase the new Juke by November 30, 2019 will benefit from a free navigation system and a cash bonus of 1,500 francs
