Nissan: This is the Qashqai number 3 🎥
TRADITION AND PROGRESS Some cars are instantly recognizable. The new Nissan Qashqai is no exception. Although the third generation has nothing to do with its predecessor in technical terms, it is immediately recognizable: this is a Qashqai. The new Qashqai looks more muscular than before and has grown in all directions. Diesel is no longer available.
Now the third Qashqai generation is rolling out, and like all its predecessors it was designed in the British design studio. Nissan is proud that the bestseller was "developed in Europe for Europe.
In doing so, the creative team refrained from drawing a completely new silhouette, instead focusing on a further development of the design with purposefully placed accents,
Increased wheelbase creates additional space
The Qashqai's dimensions are slightly larger than those of its predecessor, but the wheelbase has been increased by almost two centimeters, giving the rear passengers in particular additional space.
Nissan has improved all-round visibility. Slimmer A-pillars at the front, a larger windshield, and exterior mirrors mounted on the door instead of in a triangle between the door and window provide a better view to the front and side.
Quality materials and pleasant lighting
A clearly arranged collection of instruments is spread out in front of the steering wheel, and the most important settings can be called up via a 12.3-inch screen.
The head-up display (optional in some versions) delivers some information directly into the driver's field of vision. In addition to the digital helpers, analog switches help to turn off the distraction caused by looking at the screen. Nissan executives chose high-quality materials for the interior, and white ambient lighting adds to the pleasant atmosphere.
On demand Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa
Technology freaks in particular get their money's worth, because not only is a well-designed head-up display with large displays available that projects relevant info directly onto the windshield. Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa can also be integrated into the Nissan system and used just like at home.
Automatic transmission for the version with 158 hp
Two engines are available for the powertrain. The 1.3-liter four-cylinder delivers either 140 hp or 158 hp. The more powerful version is coupled with an X-Tronic automatic that discreetly selects the respective gear ratio.
Nissan sends both powertrains into the race as mild hybrids, but does without a 48-volt system and instead relies on a twelve-volt solution because, according to the technicians, this increases "the vehicle weight by just 22 kilograms."
Turbo lag is compensated for at low speed
The slight electric boost is noticeable in that the turbo lag is largely compensated for at low revs and the 1.3-liter already pulls properly at 1500 rpm. Even the base version with 140 hp seems powerful enough and ensures brisk progress.
However, those who want an automatic transmission or all-wheel drive have to go for the more powerful version. The X-Tronic is a continuously variable transmission in itself, but artificial gearshifts prevent the engine from howling when the accelerator is pressed hard, which is otherwise so typical of this type of transmission: The Qashqai with X-Tronic remains quiet and calm.
Full hybrid version E-Power coming next year
The third engine version will not arrive until the second quarter of 2022 and is a special feature. It is the full hybrid version of the Qashqai and goes by the name E-Power. A 1.5-liter gasoline engine with an output of 154 hp is coupled with an unusually powerful 140 kW electric motor.
Pro Pilot assistance system ensures greater safety
The latest generation of the Pro Pilot assistance system is responsible for safety, supporting the driver (and of course the female driver) in everyday situations in cooperation with the navigation system. However, the electronic assistant is only used in conjunction with the automatic transmission. In addition, an airbag between the front seats is on board, among other things.
The price list starts at 28,500 francs for the basic Visia version. The top variant Tecna+ with automatic transmission costs 43 600 francs and for the all-wheel-drive model change hands from 39 750 francs.
