The new Jaguar XF Sportbrake station wagon will be launched in Switzerland in the fall. In addition to four diesel units, there is a new turbocharged gasoline engine in the lineup.

A "natural extension of the sedan concept" (press release), the new XF Sportbrake offers an even roomier interior and cargo space than its sedan counterpart. With its full-LED headlights and the grille typical of the brand, the XF Sportbrake is initially indistinguishable from the sedan in terms of its front view.

The tail brings it
The tailgate is made in one piece from a polymer material and has an opening width of over one meter. As a practical detail, it has an LED "puddle light" that illuminates the area immediately behind the vehicle when the trunk is open. The trunk volume of 565 liters can be increased to 1700 liters by folding down the rear seat - without a step. The rear seats are folded down either via levers mounted in the side walls of the trunk or directly on the seat backrests.

Open by gesture
In conjunction with keyless entry, Jaguar offers gesture control for the power tailgate on the new XF Sportbrake. To avoid contact with the ceilings of low parking garages or garages, the opening angle of the tailgate can be limited.

All wheel option
The continuously variable all-wheel drive system constantly monitors traction to prevent slippage or react to it within milliseconds. The transfer case is 16 percent lighter, ten percent more efficient and, according to the supplier, also slightly quieter than that of the predecessor model. Under normal road conditions, almost 100 percent of the torque goes to the rear axle. In situations where the rear wheels have no grip, up to 90 percent of the torque can be allocated to the front axle

Diesel and gasoline
The engine portfolio starts with four-cylinder gasoline and diesel engines from the Ingenium engine family. The entry-level engines for the XF are two 2.0-liter turbodiesels with 120 kW/163 hp and 132 kW/180 hp. The new Ingenium diesel with 177 kW/240 hp output marks the top of the four-cylinder self-igniter faction. With 700 Nm torque, the TDV6 diesel, which is predestined for towing heavy trailers, draws 221 kW/300 hp from 2993 cm3 displacement. Based on the same basic architecture as its diesel series brothers, the new turbocharged gasoline engine delivers 184 kW/250 hp. The eight-speed automatic transmission from ZF is available for all XF Sportbrake models, while the manual six-speed transmission is reserved for models with the entry-level diesel.
