The sporty new 5-door Honda Civic is being launched with much praise. Initial test reports from trade media and experts show that the 2017 Civic demonstrates sportiness not only visually. The new Civic is wider, longer and lower than its predecessors. It has short overhangs and taut lines that promise good aerodynamics. With highly precise handling that promises a lot of driving fun and a high standard of safety, the new Honda should also prove this in terms of driving dynamics and technology.
New engines
The Civic five-door is the first European model to be equipped with Honda's new 1.0-liter 3-cylinder and 1.5-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engines. Both gasoline engines will be available with either the newly developed six-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable CVT transmission. Thanks to its higher torque in the low and mid-range, the 1.0-liter VTEC turbo gasoline engine with three cylinders is particularly suitable for everyday use. With the six-speed manual transmission, maximum torque is 200 Nm (CVT transmission 180) Nm. Maximum output is 129 hp/95 kW at 5500 rpm. The output of the 1.5-liter VTEC turbo 4-cylinder engine is 182 hp/134 kW at 5500/min. (6000/min. with CVT transmission). With six-speed manual transmission, this results in a maximum torque of 240 Nm (CVT transmission 220 Nm).
More novelties to see
During the two test days, the other novelties and special models of the CR-V, the HR-V and the Jazz will also be available at the dealers for driving and test sitting. In addition, Honda is offering particularly attractive prices and financing with zero-percent leasing (36 months) and premiums of up to CHF 2000.
