Numerous innovations
The top-of-the-range model from Mercedes-Benz takes another major step towards autonomous driving and raises Intelligent Drive to the next level. The Energizing comfort control system is a world first: this optional extra networks various comfort systems in the vehicle such as climate control, ambient lighting, massage or fragrance functions and enables a special wellness set-up depending on the customer's mood or requirements. This increases well-being and performance during the journey.
Best-selling luxury sedan
The Mercedes-Benz flagship maintained its position as the world's best-selling luxury saloon in 2016. Well over 300,000 saloons have been sold since 2013. There are now six different S-Class body variants. All models have a new radiator grille: The versions with six and eight-cylinder engines get three double slats as well as vertical bars in the radiator grille in high-gloss black. The saloon with a long wheelbase and V12 engine also receives vertical bars in the radiator grille in chrome.
Insightful
At the rear, the new LED lights with crystal-look tail light catch the eye. Another new feature is the tail light illumination when locking and unlocking the vehicle and three pairs of horizontal light guides. High-quality materials define the interior, including open-pored woods as well as leather-covered doors and beltlines, depending on the equipment. As before, energy-saving LED technology is used for the interior lighting. With 64 colors, the optional extended ambient lighting offers many possibilities for individual adjustment.
Powerful
The S 560 4MATIC and Mercedes-Maybach S 560 4MATIC are powered by the new V8 petrol engine with 345 kW/469 hp and 700 Nm. AMG S 63 4MATIC+: For superior driving performance with significantly reduced fuel consumption, the AMG 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine with cylinder deactivation replaces the previous 5.5-liter V8 biturbo. Despite the smaller displacement, the new engine delivers 450 kW/612 hp. In the Mercedes-Benz S 350 d 4MATIC and S 400 d 4MATIC models, the new in-line six-cylinder diesel makes its debut in two output levels with 210 kW/286 hp and 600 Nm as well as 250 kW/340 hp and 700 Nm. In addition to the aforementioned drive systems, further new engines are planned for the new S-Class, including an in-line six-cylinder petrol engine and a plug-in hybrid with an electric range of around 50 kilometers.
