Morgan: sprightly septuagenarian 🎥
THE UR-MORGAN The Morgan Plus Four has been built since 1950 with a few interruptions. Now it is being released with a comprehensive update that brings its drive technology, driving dynamics and retro design up to date.
In principle, Morgen naturally wanted to retain the characteristic body shape for the facelift. This has been achieved, although the front and rear lighting elements, the front and rear fenders and the front splitter and rear diffuser have been redesigned.
Focus on driving pleasure
The English manufacturer's philosophy is that driving pleasure is more important than acceleration values and lap times. A lightweight 2-liter four-cylinder engine from BMW is installed above the front axle in the longitudinal direction, delivering a maximum of 258 hp and a maximum torque of 350 Nm in the manual version and 400 Nm in the automatic version. With a vehicle weight of only around 1010 kilograms, this is sufficient for 0-100 acceleration values of 5.2 and 4.8 seconds respectively and a top speed of 240 km/h. The revised chassis of the Plus Four, which is only 3.83 meters long, can be further refined if the optional Dynamic Handling package with new springs and adjustable dampers is ordered.
New sound system
The redesigned interior of the two-seater features an audio system from Sennheiser with a new loudspeaker concept. Morgan uses traditional tools and working methods to process the fine Scottish leather used in the interior. And as has been the case for decades, the Plus Four is fitted with an aluminum body over its ash wood frame. The wheel suspensions, braking system and vehicle electronics are, of course, state-of-the-art.
Every car a one-off
Morgan does not have a special personalization department. But in production, there is a practically infinite number of possible combinations in terms of equipment, so each one is unique and selected by the customer. The order book has been opened and production will begin in May.
