The English manufacturer Morgan has been building two and four-seater roadsters with fascinating driving characteristics for sports car purists for decades.
The new project is the Plus 8 GTR with a high shoulder line, hardtop and 5-spoke alloy wheels reminiscent of the Plus 8 Big Blue racing cars of the 1990s. Naturally, the engine is installed longitudinally at the front and drives the rear wheels.
Production to start in summer 2021
The GTR project was made possible by buying back nine rolling chassis that were not used by a small series builder. Production, which will start in the summer, will run parallel to the production of the current series models.
Manual or automatic transmission as required
The special model is built on the aluminum aero chassis of the Plus 8s, with which the new model also shares the BMW V8 engine. It is not yet clear whether the GTR will also have 366 hp, as the vehicle can be customized for specific countries. However, there is certainly a choice between manual and automatic transmission.
