Mini: Countryman also as plug-in hybrid
Mini will be the first model of the brand to offer the second generation of the Countryman as a plug-in hybrid. The new Countryman is three centimetres wider and the wheelbase is 7.5 centimetres longer than the current model. This creates more space in the rear in particular. The Countryman has also gained ground clearance and seat height as well as the size of the rear door openings. New equipment features include the touchscreen function of the central instrument in the independently designed cockpit and the optional touchless opening and closing tailgate. A so-called picnic bench is also available as an option. The tray can be folded out of the load compartment and offers space for two people.
Mini promises more temperament and lower fuel consumption for all engines. As an alternative to the standard 6-speed manual gearbox, a 6-speed Steptronic is available for the new Cooper Countryman or with eight gears in the Cooper S and Cooper D. The 8-speed Steptronic is standard in the Cooper SD Countryman. Depending on the engine, the permissible towing capacity is between 1500 and 1800 kilograms. The new Mini Countryman will celebrate its premiere at the Los Angeles Auto Show (November 18 to 27, 2016). The market launch in Switzerland is planned for February 2017.
