Mercedes shows how even an SUV just 4.63 meters long can become a family transporter. The new GLB, which is based on the B-Class platform, combines a compact exterior with generous interior dimensions. Thanks to the transversely installed engine and the 100 millimeter longer wheelbase, there is plenty of room for five people and enough space for seven passengers.

Hey-Mercedes on board on request
Inside, the proximity to the A- and B-Class with MBUX multimedia system is striking. The head-up display, navigation with augmented reality and "Hey Mercedes" voice control are also available in the GLB. For easy access to the third row of seats, the second row can be moved lengthways by 140 millimetres. The space there is sufficient for children and smaller adults. In addition, the interior can be arranged very variably. The seat backrests can be folded forward - optionally also on the front passenger side. This results in load compartments with volumes of 570 to 1805 liters.
Three gasoline and three diesel engines
In the GLB 200 and GLB 250 models, 1.3 and 2-liter petrol engines with 163 and 224 hp drive the front wheels or all four wheels. The top model, the GLB 35 AMG, even offers 306 hp. The 1950 cc diesel in the GLB 180d, 200d and 220d models delivers 116, 150 or 190 hp. All engine variants are combined with dual-clutch transmission. The GLB 200 and 180d are front-wheel drive models; the GLB 250, 35 AMG and 220d are always combined with 4-Matic. In the GLB 200d, there is a choice between front-wheel and all-wheel drive. A ground clearance of 20 cm and large slope angles also make the GLB suitable for off-road excursions. Additional lights, hill descent control and the special off-road driving mode support the journey.

Low speed and very economical
The three most powerful engines are particularly impressive on the road. The GLB 250 and GLB 220d accelerate spiritedly and can also be driven at low revs and very economically thanks to their powerful turbo engines. The suspension and noise comfort as well as the smooth but precise steering further contribute to the pleasant driving experience in both models. The GLB 35 AMG is top in every respect. It accelerates to 100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds and, with 400 Nm, provides power reserves in every situation.
Deliveries from the end of the year
Diesel models are available from 45,500 francs, petrol models from 47,700 francs. The Mercedes newcomer can be ordered immediately and the first units will be delivered towards the end of the year. The price for the AMG model has not yet been set.
