Mercedes: New C-Class from 46 270 francs
NEARLY EVERYTHING NEW Mercedes has completely revamped the C-Class. In addition to visual touch-ups, the 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine features the additional 48-volt system as well as a boost and sail function. Introduced in 1982, the baby Benz is the brand's volume model par excellence - and has been for around ten years in Switzerland. Launched in 1982, the baby Benz is the brand's volume model par excellence - and has been for around ten years in Switzerland. The C-Class is still available in sedan, coupe, convertible and estate (station wagon) versions.
The AMG C 43 4Matic is the sporty spearhead of the series. This is the last model update of the model series. Its successor will hit the road in three years at the latest.
New generation even sportier in appearance
More than half of all components were replaced or upgraded for the current model year. After all, around 6500.
In fact, the new generation looks even sportier. However, the detail improvements are primarily limited to the front and rear.
Inside, at least at first glance, much remains the same - apart from the new multifunction steering wheel. You won't find the new luxury-class cockpit from the new A-Class.
But in all honesty, the digital cockpit with the 12.3-inch screen in the driver's field of vision and the freely positioned ten-inch touchscreen in the center meet the highest standards.
Partially automated driving is possible more often
Launched in July, the C-Class features the latest driving assistance systems and thus has even more gas in the tank than the last generation when it comes to safety. Partially automated driving is now possible more frequently.
Interesting: Active Distance Assist supports the driver in many situations on a route basis and pre-emptively adjusts the speed before curves, intersections or traffic circles. Active Lane Change Assist takes over lane changes independently after the turn signal is set.
There are significant innovations under the hood
The new 1.5-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine with twin-scroll turbo is equipped with a mild hybrid system that temporarily provides an electric boost of 14 hp. In the C200 and C200 4Matic this means 184 hp.
Also new is the two-liter in the C300 with 258 hp and 370 Nm. The top model among the gasoline engines is the C400 4Matic, a 333-hp six-cylinder with powerful torque.
In the case of the diesel engines, the changeover to the new OM 654 generation has been completed, all of which comply with the Euro 6d-TEMP emissions standard. They produce between 122 hp (C 180d) and 194 hp (C 220d). A 6-speed manual transmission and a 9-speed automatic are available. All-wheel drive is available in conjunction with the C 200, C 400 and C 220d.
Supercharged V6 biturbo engine in the AMG C 43 4Matic
In Switzerland at least, the AMG C 43 4Matic with a powerful V6 biturbo engine (390 hp and 520 Nm) is sure to be very popular again. That's 23 hp more than the predecessor. Thanks to the engine-oriented design, the turbochargers respond even more spontaneously.
The entry-level price for the new C-Class is 46,270 Swiss francs. For this, the 129-hp C 160 with 9-speed automatic is available.
The AMG dream starts at 76,700 Swiss francs. In Switzerland, the two special models Swiss Star and Swiss Executive are available with lots of additional equipment.
